ELEVENSES WITH TWIGGY
Twiggy plays cameo role in new BBC Radio 4 radio play!
- March 13th, 2006

Sixties icon Twiggy plays herself in this sparkling new play by young writer Simon Farquhar.

The Sixties are nearly over, and young Jackie Addison is running out of time if he’s going to make it to Swinging London from his home in the north of Scotland. But then he wins a competition and the prize is to travel south to meet Twiggy.

Jackie, 22, is a dedicated follower of fashion and knows there’s a huge party going on somewhere else which he wants to be a part of, if only for a moment. His father’s away fishing and his mother’s drinking herself to oblivion. The only thing that keeps him home is his 15-year-old little brother, Joesy.

But then, thumbing through a magazine, Jackie takes a chance and enters a competition: “Win dinner at the Ritz Hotel in London with the Face of the Decade”. Suddenly, the two boys are off on a prize-winning weekend to the wicked city. However, it doesn’t quite go according to plan. It’s the sweet generosity of 19-year-old Twiggy and her own understanding of Jackie’s desperate need to change his life that finally shows him what he has to do if he wants, as she has done, to escape his background

TWIGGY RETURNS TO PANTOMIME FOR CHRISTMAS 2005 (Oh no she isn't, oh yes she is!!!)
Jack And The Beanstalk - Theatre Royal Brighton December 8th, 2005 - January 15th, 2006

Twiggy as the Fairy Jack And The BeanstalkWe are pleased to announce that Twiggy will be taking to the stage in the Theatre Royal Brighton pantomime Jack And The Beanstalk directed by Leigh Lawson for First Family Entertainment.

Twiggy will be playing the role of the good fairy opposite Simon Shepherd (Peak Practice), Bill Buckley (BBC Southern Counties), Anna Williamson (CITV) and Ian Good.

Speaking about the pantomime Twiggy commented: "Pantomime is such a great British institution and I am really looking forward to playing the Fairy in Jack and the Beanstalk. I have always loved pantomime and what it represents, it is fun and light-hearted entertainment that brings all the family together and it is often the beginning of a child’s theatrical experiences." - The Stage

Jack And The Beanstalk will be Twiggy's third pantomime, having performed in Cinderella (1974) and Captain Beaky's Musical Christmas (1981).

To book tickets contact Theatre Royal Brighton on 08700 606 650

REPORT

Twiggy stars in this lavish pantomime produced by First Family Entertainment and directed by husband, Leigh Lawson. Twiggy performs two songs in the show namely, Take It On The Chin and Spread A Little Happiness both of which she recorded for her London Pride album in 1996.

Twiggy turns in a fantastic performance as the Fairy Sweetpea and works extremely well opposite Simon Shepherd as Fleshcreep. The supporting cast members all shine in their roles, stand out performances include Ian Good as Dame Trot and of course, Daisy the Cow!

The sets are grand, the choreography superb and the performances first rate. A fantastic show, warmly recommended to all!

REVIEWS

Jack And The Beanstalk has climbed the heights of traditional pantomime with this slick, fast and colourful show. Twiggy twinkles as the billed star of the show. The girl who found fame at the age of 16 as a model is now a competent actress, singer and dancer some 40 years later in this production directed by her husband Leigh Lawson. - The Argus (12/12/05)

No expense spared with Twiggy topping the bill for this lavish but non-traditional pantomime. It has the usual ingredients but no Principal Boy, Jack being played by Chris Till, a star of West End musicals.

At least the traditional role of Dame hasn’t changed with the passage of time and Ian Good as Dame Trot is the star of this production. Sometimes the difference in quality of performance between experienced panto artists and those who have been hired because they are well known television faces or broadcasters is evident. Bill Buckley as the King is a prime example. Here we have a well known radio personality who is excellent at his own job but like a fish out of water in this medium.

The Fairy is a thankless part in any pantomime and Twiggy does all that is expected of her, looking great with it - The Stage (13/12/05)
